In the European Union, the company owns and operates sugar refineries in England, Portugal and Italy.  ASR Group also owns and operates mills in Mexico and Belize.  The company’s brand portfolio includes the leading brands Domino®, C&H®, Redpath®, Tate & Lyle®, Lyle’s® and Sidul®.   OVERVIEW To safely and consistently manage the Thames Refinery process on a 24 hour basis in order to meet the production plan at target quality and cost.   DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES To ensure site safety, hygiene, environment and quality performance standards are met or bettered on a “24/7”basis. To ensure the process is operated consistently to meet daily/weekly production plans at the lowest achievable refining cost, striving for best practice. To ensure all products are within specification 100% of the time to avoid customer complaint, and to promote Customer Driven Quality. To ensure all operating areas* of the business are integrated on a 24/7 basis so that refinery performance is optimised and customer expectations met. To manage reactive maintenance to ensure minimum cost and downtime. In the event of an incident, act as the single point for coordination and control consistent with the company’s Crisis Management procedures. To manage the Refining Operators on Crew to best effect to ensure the above targets are met. To ensure that the Crew has the correct skill level to meet the standards required. To guide and mentor the shift team with respect to problem solving and trouble-shooting. To assist the Area Technical Managers in the Optimisation of their plant areas by involving the Crew teams where appropriate. To support and be engaged with relevant project activities and Capital Expenditure, as needed. * Raw Sugar, Process, Packing, Warehouse, and Distribution.   PERFORMANCE MEASURES Meet Daily/Weekly Production Targets. All products within specifications. Meet or better all SHHE targets. Delivery and completion of peoples measures and targets e.g. Training. Costs at or better than budgeted levels. Accurate completion of plant records and reports (by self and shift team).   DIMENSIONS Plant value of 180 M£ Team of approximately 30 staff /hourly paid, out of day-work hours Production of 1.1 Mt/yr (average melt rate of raw sugar 135tph, peak rate 180tph) Working inventory levels of 19,000 tonnes dry sugar, 1000 tonnes liquid sugar, and up to 70000 tonnes raw sugar on site   EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Educated to degree standard.     DESIRED CAPABILITIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES) Process engineering knowledge and fault finding abilities. Good understanding of Refining process operations. Proven line management. Ability to adapt to change. Excellent communications skills (at all levels and with people inside and outside the organisation). Good understanding of TLS working practices and procedures.
