Job Purpose The Senior Hospitality Assistants work closely with the Head Chef (Village) and Chef (Village) to provide a food and drink service in a welcoming, clean environment for our residents/customers in our village café including some preparation and cooking of food. Working hours are 5 days a week, including every other weekend. Key Results All Hospitality Assistants Creates a welcoming environment for residents and customers in our village restaurants with a focus on customer service and providing a wide variety of food and drinks. Building a rapport with residents. Provides a café/barista service in the village restaurants. Serves customers using the EPOS. Responsible for day-to-day cleanliness, hygiene and washing up after a food service. Safely closes down the kitchen at the end of the day in line with protocols in preparation for the next day. Removes waste. Senior Hospitality Assistants Assists with stock management, rotation and ordering. People management responsibilities and supervision of the Hospitality Assistants. Assists the Chef with some cooking and prep including making sandwiches, paninis, salads etc for the village café. Responsible (with the Chef (Village)) for the food produced meeting quality standards and compliance in relation to allergens and other dietary needs. Accurately cashes up at the end of service. Skills and Experience Communication Advocate culture of communication and information sharing between team members. May involve others in resolving and discussing mutual problems. Written responses presented in range of formats. Exchanges and clarifies technical or complex info for diverse audience. Collaborate with residents – tailoring service to meet individual needs. Promptly respond to or refer to team leader/line manager (as appropriate to role), issues of residents or colleagues’ health or well-being. Understand the needs of older people and people with dementia Aware of cultural and individual differences in all interactions and service areas. Working with Others Role models integrity. Flexible style, stepping in to support team members when required, including on other sites. Liaises with other teams/departments and external partners/contacts as service area expert. Encourages engagement and flexibility within team. Other Skills and Qualifications Essential All Knowledge and experience of good food hygiene practices Knowledge of health and safety principles Good standard of general education Barista trained Knowledge and working practice of good customer service Senior Food hygiene qualification level 2 Experience working in a busy café/restaurant environment Experience supervising a team Confidence with IT systems, word, excel, outlook etc Desirable All Food hygiene qualification level 2 Diploma (or NVQ) level 1 Catering/Food Service or equivalent Experience working in a busy café/restaurant environment Experience of working with older people Senior Diploma (or NVQ) level 2 Catering/Food Service or equivalent Experience using an EPOS Additional Information Duties must be carried out in compliance with St Monica Trust’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Policy.
