Facility Cape Fear Valley Medical Center Location Fayetteville, North Carolina Department Main Operating Room Job Family Nursing Work Shift Days (United States of America) Summary Assumes clinical supervision for maintaining the perioperative standards of patient care for a defined patient population. Represents OR management and acts as liaison between nursing, OR staff, surgeons and other hospital departments. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time: Evaluates adequacy and appropriateness of patient care equipment, supplies, environment and makes provision for adjustments as required for these needs on all shifts Suggests and supports needs for capital equipment and operational expenses Identifies education or training needs of team members and communicates with clinical educator of these needs Communicates with surgeons, particularly in the defined specialty areas of responsibility, regarding technological changes and related information Discusses need for disciplinary action with the Patient Care Manager for complex situations and takes actions in disciplining staff when or if an emergency occurs Supports patients in the practice of cultural and spiritual beliefs within limits of the medical regimen Adjust patient care based on the age specific physiological and psychosocial needs of patients typically served Completes accurate charges for patient services and participates in cost containment Maintains surgeon preference cards for accuracy of supplies and equipment When scheduled on weekends coordinator performs charge nurse role Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job: Education and Formal Training: Associate’s degree in Nursing required Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred Current Registered Nurse licensure in North Carolina Certified or seeking AORN certification preferred Unit Description: Main OR is a surgical department with 8 Operating Rooms and 2 Cysto Rooms. Our Care team consist of a team that provides safe quality care: Registered Nurses, CRNAs, Physicians, and Surgical Technologist Our PCM, Resource Nurse, and Unit Educator are available to support our clinical needs with access to education, resources, guidelines, and protocols. Our electronic medical record is EPIC. We operate 24/7, 7 days a week, including weekends, and on-call services for emergency/trauma cases. Our patients include Pediatric, Adult and Geriatric patients. Work Experience: General Surgery Orthopedics Ortho-Spine Neurosurgery Urology Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery Robotics Trauma and Emergency Surgery Must have at least 1 year of Operating Room experience or you can be considered in our yearly residency held in February and July contingent upon open vacancies.
