Our Finance team plays a pivotal role in enabling design excellence — providing robust financial control, insightful reporting, and strategic support to project teams. We are now seeking an experienced Project Accountant to join this high-performing function and support the successful financial management of our global projects. Reporting to the Head of Financial Reporting & Control and Head of Financial Planning & Analysis, the Project Accountant will act as a key link between the Finance team and Project Leaders, ensuring financial data integrity, performance insight, and proactive support across all project stages. General day-to-day tasks Main responsibilities Project Finance Management Partner with Project Directors and Architects to manage budgets, forecasts, and profitability throughout the project lifecycle. Coordinate and process changes to project financials — including scope adjustments, fee variations, and resourcing changes — ensuring updates are accurately reflected across the accounting system, forecasts, and internal reports. Review and reconcile project amendments to maintain consistency between contractual documentation, project schedules, and accounting. Produce and maintain project forecast vs. actual reports; identify deviations, analyse causes, and support corrective actions. Provide clear insight to senior leadership on revenue recognition, utilisation, and margin performance. Oversee invoicing and WIP management, ensuring revenue is recognised in line with project progress and contractual milestones. Liaise with project leads to monitor sub-consultant and supplier costs and ensure timely approvals and billing. Support compliance with timesheet completion and data integrity for all project-related entries. Financial and Management Accounting Prepare project and department-level profitability reporting for internal review and consolidation. Support credit control and cashflow forecasting through accurate monitoring of project billings and receipts. Support the Head of Financial Reporting & Control in implementing and refining project accounting procedures, including fee change tracking, project closeout reconciliations, and variance analysis. Contribute to continuous improvement of financial systems and ensuring data consistency and workflow efficiency. Your profile Skills Required Qualified or finalist accountant (ACCA / CIMA / ACA). Strong experience in project accounting, ideally within architecture, engineering, or professional services. Strong understanding of project costing, WIP, and margin analysis. Excellent Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, modelling). Experience with Sage 200, Deltek, or similar project accounting systems. Exceptional attention to detail, analytical mindset, and commercial awareness. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with creative teams.
