Infection Prevention Nurse

Highland Oaks is small, 52-bed long-term care, skilled nursing facility with a family-like atmosphere looking to hire an Infection Preventionist who can help us fulfil our mission of providing ‘Loving Care to the Glory of God.” We are a 5-star CMS rated facility that is located on the west side of Elgin, just past Randall Road.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain the facility’s Infection Control policies.
• Manage the facility’s COVID-19 program, including tracking staff and resident COVID-19 cases and maintaining the weekly staff testing logs.
• Manage the facility’s Antibiotic Stewardship program.
• Define the frequency and nature of surveillance activities and perform and document the monitoring.
• Educate and remind staff on acceptable hand hygiene practices.
• Identify and communicate information about residents with potentially transmissible infectious agents.
• Instruct staff on caring for a resident on contact precautions and ensure protocols are being followed.
• Instruct on essential steps to cleaning equipment.
• Participate and report on the Infection Prevention and Control Program at the quarterly QAPI meeting.
• Take continuing education courses and watch CMS & IDPH webinars to keep current on infection control regulations.

Minimum starting pay: $36/hr

Hours

A minimum of 3 days (24 hours) per week must be spent on Infection Control in accordance with CMS regulations. Additional days are available to fill-in as the Clinical Care Coordinator and/or Staff/Floor Nurse.

Requirements

Active RN/LPN License in Illinois

COVID-19 and Influenza Vaccine
