Job: Head of Social Formats Location: London DMG New Media is the Daily Mail’s new social-first publisher, built by a world-class team of creatives, talent, producers, and journalists. With 150M+ followers and 7BN monthly video views, we are redefining social content across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and Snapchat. Our channels span news, entertainment, sport, gaming, money, culture and lifestyle - powered by original, talent-led storytelling. We are now hiring a Head of Social Formats to own and scale our entire slate of editorial and entertainment formats across the network. Role Overview The Head of Social Formats is a critical senior role responsible for developing, shaping and scaling the original video formats that sit at the heart of DMG New Media’s editorial proposition. You will oversee the creation, evolution, and performance of all social-native series across all our channels. You’ll work closely with talent, creatives, editors, and commercial teams to build formats that are culturally fluent, highly shareable, and impossible to scroll past. This is a role for someone who deeply understands youth culture, the social video landscape, and the mechanics of building formats that scale. Key Responsibilities Lead Format Development & Innovation Own the creative and strategic development of all DMG New Media social formats - from pitching to pilots to full rollout. Build a slate of repeatable, scalable series that drive daily, weekly, and tentpole editorial output. Identify gaps and emerging opportunities across categories (news, sport, entertainment, lifestyle, money, gaming, pop culture). Operations, Format Playbooks & Systems Create clear frameworks and bibles for every series - structure, tone, pacing, visual language. Standardise format workflows so content can scale across multiple channels and talent. Partner on Branded Content Support commercial by adapting existing top-performing editorial formats into branded versions. Help shape new branded concepts aligned to client briefs, Performance, Quality Control & Scaling Own performance KPIs for formats - views, watch time, retention, engagement. Regularly analyse platform trends, audience insights, competitive landscape and emerging behaviours. Collaborate with channel managers to ensure formats evolve with audience habits. Audit underperforming series and quickly iterate or replace. Scale successful formats across other channels, territories, and genres. What We’re Looking For Experience & Skills 6–10 years experience in social video, creative development, digital publishing or entertainment. Proven track record creating successful short-form video formats at scale. Deep instinct for youth culture, humour, language and behaviour. Strong editorial judgment and understanding of news, sport, entertainment and pop culture. Hands-on understanding of social content - pacing, structure, hooks. Ability to write, direct and creatively steer talent. Confident managing multiple creative teams and working cross-functionally.
