FIRST REVIEW: December 24, 2025 Salary: $136,437.00 per year Job Summary: The Division Chief of Emergency Response serves as the Department’s manager responsible for overseeing both Fire Suppression and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) operations. This position ensures the delivery of high-quality, safe, and effective emergency response across the community. The Division Chief provides leadership in operational readiness, staffing, training integration, and inter-agency coordination. The operations battalion chief’s report directly to this position. They serve as a member of the departmental management team, responsible for establishing and implementing goals, objectives, policies, discipline and procedures that align with the City’s mission and the Department’s strategic priorities. The position operates with significant independent judgment under the general direction of the Deputy Chief of Emergency Response. Job Specifications: Associate’s degree in Fire Science, EMS, Fire Administration, Emergency Management, Public Administration, or a related field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred; Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible fire service experience with at least three (3) years at the rank of Company Officer or higher; Battalion Chief experience preferred; Experience in both EMS and suppression operations required. Licensing: Valid Idaho Class D driver’s license; State of Idaho EMT or Paramedic license (required within 6 months of hire); ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800 certifications; Incident Safety Officer certification required; Active membership in IFCA and IAFC encouraged.
