Major Job Functions The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time: Performs all procedures designed within the CT Section of Radiology Demonstrates competency and efficiency in the treatment, care of and interaction with all patients of any age group to include neo-natal, newborns, adolescents, adults and geriatrics Assesses the patient, reviews charts for orders and lab results, completes data sheet and communicates with the Radiologist as to the availability and reason for the procedure Prepares the patient for the procedure, answers any questions or directs questions to the Radiologist Responsible for the prompt completion and accurate recording of exam begin and end time in the Radiology Information System (RIS) to ensure timely access to study by the radiologist Provides a safe environment to include but not limited to radiation exposure, contrast administration and infection control guidelines/Universal Precautions Maintains exceptional guest relations with patient, visitors, hospital staff and medical staff to include the use of AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, & Thank You) Monitors the timeliness of exams and quality of care based on established department goals, striving for continuous quality improvement Performs QA of exams (correct order, accurate/complete image annotation, correct laterality, and correct presentation state) prior to sending to radiologist for interpretation Actively participates in helping the department reach patient satisfaction goals by providing quality care, explaining procedures, and performing procedures in a timely manner Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job: Education and Formal Training: Associates degree required ARRT Certified required Advanced CT Registry required within one year of hire date AHA (American Heart Association) CPR Certification required Work Experience: 1-2 years preferred Experienced in the treatment, care of and interacts with patients of all ages to include neo-natal, newborns, adolescents, pediatrics, adults and geriatrics preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Knowledge of growth and development and the range of treatment needed for all age groups Physical Requirements: Ability to communicate orally Manual dexterity and visual acuity Mobility to assume awkward positions and respond to emergency situations Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time Ability to bend and lift 100 lbs and/or carry objects up to 50 lbs Position may involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material Required Licenses and Certifications ARRT - American Registry Of Radiologic Technologists Cape Fear Valley Health System is an Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/Disability/Veteran/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity For exceptional healthcare come to Cape Fear Valley Health where caring employees are committed to integrity, patient-centeredness and excellence throughout the entire healthcare process.
