$10,000.00 Sign On Bonus Facility Cape Fear Valley Medical Center Location Fayetteville, North Carolina Department Cancer Center Administration Job Family Allied Health Work Shift Days (United States of America) Summary Provides nutritional assessments for patients and develops appropriate plans of care based on needs. Documents assessments and recommendations appropriately. Instructs patients and families in nutritional principles, dietary plans, food selection and preparation. Maintains current knowledge in with dietetic practices and engages in nutritional research and maintains registration status through the Commission of Dietetic Registration. Major Job Functions The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time: Conducts a nutrition assessment for patients at nutritional risk Obtains timely and appropriate data and analyzes/interprets data using evidence-based standards Develops and implements an individualized plan for nutrition intervention in accordance with the patient’s medical program goals and objectives, nutrition prescription, and self-management training. May require development of a therapeutic plan for specialized nutrition support, including, enteral nutrition Utilizes assessment and evaluation techniques that consider the varied needs of age-specific populations as well as cultural, religious, and ethnic concerns Evaluates the effectiveness of medical nutrition therapy interventions Communicates with the medical team through interdisciplinary meetings, rounds and medical conferences Provides appropriate and timely documentation that summarizes the nutrition care plan in the patient’s medical record, including nutrition assessment, diagnosis, plan implementation, and progress towards goals Assesses educational needs and the presence of barriers to learning. Provides nutrition counseling for individuals and groups and adapts teaching method as needed to meet patient learning needs Evaluates achievement of learning objectives by the patient and/or family. Provides appropriate follow up in accordance with the patient’s treatment goals, refers patients to outpatient counseling, community, or home health services as appropriate Serves as resource to medical staff and allied health personnel on nutrition issues Assists in the education of dietetic students and interns as requested. Supports, promotes, and enforces compliance for all regulatory agencies such as Joint Commission, State and Federal Agencies, etc. Supports, promotes, and enforces internal CFV standards for infection control, patient safety, risk management, etc. Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job: Education and Formal Training: Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics or Nutrition required Current N.C. Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist (LDN) required Work Experience: Experience in a hospital setting preferred.
