Job Summary To manage claims from all lines of Marine business with a particular focus on Marine Cargo in our London office in a proactive manner at individual and portfolio level with focus on achieving high levels of satisfaction for the insured and broker through high quality claims management, resolution and excellent client service. Key Responsibilities Managing claims from notification to closure, investing the necessary level of involvement required for each claim depending on the nature, category, maturity, type and value of the claim. Following at all times IGIUK’s Claims Reserving Philosophy and Claims Standards. Developing, documenting, communicating and executing claims strategies taking into account uncertainties, key decisions, potential outcomes and estimated associated costs. Reviewing individual claims within the portfolio and keeping reserves and records up to date as required by IGI UK’s claims controls and standards. Keeping Finance advised of any material claims as set out in the claims authority, protocols and procedures. Contributing to marketing and underwriting strategies and future business development. Providing input to underwriters on review of potential or existing insured’s claims experience. Reporting and analysing claims trends and developments and their potential impact on the book. Operating within approved claims authority at all times. Having thorough working knowledge of industry regulations and minimum standards to ensure compliance with the regulations and IGI UK’s claims and underwriting control standards and protocols. Understanding and implementing as appropriate IGI UK’s “Treating Customers Fairly” policy as it relates to IGI UK’s claims function. Attend external events to network in the market and to continue to build the IGI brand. Working closely with the Underwriters and the Claims team in London and Amman as necessary. Assisting the Claims Manager in day to day claims administration. Key Attributes & Professional Qualifications A minimum of 2 years experience in claims handling within Marine lines of business in the UK. Minimum of A level education with preference given towards candidates with a degree A keen interest in own self professional development. The successful candidate will need to be working towards the CII qualification or be prepared to start that process, as well as regularly attending training events to continue their own professional development. General computer literacy (excel, word, powerpoint etc) plus any prior experience with Xuber would be advantageous. Strong team player who is also able to work on own initiative within authority limits. Excellent attention to detail in order to maintain accuracy of data and file records. The candidate needs to be a self-starter, who can manage high volumes during busy periods, has the ability to take and execute instructions and meet deadlines. Must work well under pressure and be able to prioritise tasks, especially during busy periods.
