We’re excited for what’s next, so with us, you can be too.   Our team The international tax group provides standalone structuring and complex tax advisory services, transactional tax advice services and tax controversy support for clients both domestic and around the globe. We work both with a standalone client base and also with clients of the wider firm, alongside colleagues in other legal disciplines within the firm.  We will also lead on the planning and delivery of tax advice and support on a multi-jurisdictional basis, working with our large global team of tax lawyers and network of “best friend” tax advisers to provide clients with a “one stop shop” tax solution. The global tax group has over 160 tax lawyers operating from over 20 jurisdictions. The UK tax group is the second largest team in the network after the US practice with c.25 tax lawyers, and is at the heart of many international projects and client relationships.    The UK and wider tax group is award winning, with year on year recognition for our complex tax advice to large companies and institutions at the UK Taxation Awards, the International Tax Review EMEA Awards and the Law360 Awards in the US. The successful candidate will be a key part of the UK team and wider international tax group. Role and key responsibilities We are currently looking to recruit an Associate/Senior Associate into our UK tax team (based in London or Leeds) to work across our key advisory and transactional areas of funds, finance, corporate and real estate.  Our broad practice offers opportunities for both generalists and those looking to develop specialist skill sets or a sector focus. While we are looking for individuals with the experience to take a key role in transactional matters, alongside partners and junior associates, that skill set should be coupled with intellectual curiosity and an enthusiasm to get involved with complex structuring and advisory mandates.    Key responsibilities include: The key responsibilities for the position include:   taking a lead role on fund, finance and corporate tax transactional and structuring mandates; leading on tax structuring and advisory projects, as part of a team of tax experts, to deliver tax solutions to our global client base; planning and implementing cross-border structures and advisory projects, involving close work with our international tax team; committing to superior client service and delivery; the role is client facing and may require some international travel; and you will also have the opportunity: to work with our market leading real estate tax team on complex real estate acquisitions and disposals, developments and real asset-backed finance structures;  to support our market leading tax risk and W&I insurance advisory team, working closely with most leading tax underwriters to provide insurance solutions for identified tax risks;    to engage in active business development to win client mandates from both existing ES clients and on a standalone basis; to participate in thought leadership and other brand enhancement activities to further development the brand and reputation of ES for strategic tax mandates and to develop a personal brand and reputation in the tax market; train and develop junior team members;   Skills and experience We are looking for:   Associates/Senior Associates with minimum 3 years+ of PQE gained within the tax practice of a leading law firm, but will consider exceptional candidates with equivalent skills developed in a different setting; significant experience with the drafting and negotiation of tax contractual provisions for funds, finance and corporate transactions; a keen interest in tax and a drive to learn and develop, including the opportunity for further professional development such as the CTA and other qualifications; the ambition and desire to build personal expertise and a tax brand and practice with a view to a long term future in tax and at Eversheds Sutherland; Excellent interpersonal skills with a track record of working (and managing) teams and (ideally) working with other teams in an interdisciplinary framework.    What’s in it for you?   At Eversheds Sutherland, we provide benefits focused on looking after you: your development, your performance, your financial future and your health, as well as providing the opportunity to make a contribution to the world.   Other things you can expect from us:   we’re fair, transparent and equitable we reward alignment to our values, going above and beyond and your individual performance we support flexible ways of working through our remote working policy and commitment to flexible, agile and hybrid ways of working we support your health and performance through our dental, healthcare and wellness support we support everything you are and all you bring through our powerful commitment to diversity and inclusion we provide a platform for your career, whatever your ambitions through our structured professional and personal training, mentoring and development programs we provide experience and opportunity through international and cross-function exposure we provide an opportunity to give back through our pro bono work and community engagement we help you plan ahead through retirement planning, insurance and assurance   Diversity & Inclusion   At Eversheds Sutherland, “Inclusive” is a core business value.
