The Associate Director is responsible for managing client engagements, overseeing day-to-day delivery of UK corporate tax services, and supporting the development of junior team members. This role requires strong technical expertise, client service skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Duties and responsibilities, as they align to Ryan’s Key Results People: Manage and support a team of tax professionals, ensuring high-quality work and professional development. Provide coaching and feedback to team members, contributing to a positive and inclusive team culture. Assist the Director in implementing people initiatives, including onboarding, training, and performance reviews. Promote Ryan’s values and contribute to team engagement and collaboration. Client: Lead the delivery of UK corporate tax compliance and advisory services for a portfolio of clients. Maintain strong client relationships through responsive communication and consistent service quality. Identify and escalate complex technical issues to the Director or Principal as appropriate. Support client development activities, including proposal preparation and service expansion. Value: Ensure timely and accurate delivery of tax engagements in line with regulatory requirements and internal standards. Contribute to revenue growth through efficient project management and client retention. Support the implementation of process improvements and use of tax technology tools. Stay current with UK tax legislation and contribute to internal knowledge sharing. Education and Experience: ACA, CTA, or equivalent professional qualification required. Strong experience in UK corporate tax, ideally gained in a mid-tier or Big Four firm. Demonstrated ability to manage client engagements and lead delivery teams. Experience in mentoring junior staff and managing client expectations. Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Familiarity with tax compliance and research platforms (e.g., CCH, Onesource, Alphatax). Experience with CRM systems and digital collaboration tools. Required Skills: Solid technical knowledge of UK corporate tax legislation and HMRC practices. Strong organisational and project management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team. Preferred Skills: Exposure to international tax or transfer pricing is beneficial. Familiarity with tax automation and digital tools. Interest in contributing to thought leadership or internal training. Certificates and Licenses: ACA, CTA, or equivalent certification is required. Additional qualifications in international tax or related areas are advantageous.
