This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced welder looking to step off the tools and move into a rewarding role that shapes careers and strengthens national security.   Day-to-day, you’ll be at the heart of developing the next generation of welders who support critical defence projects. You’ll oversee training and qualification for structural and pipe welders, ensuring compliance with ISO, ASME, and DefStan standards.     Oversee the full welder training and qualification process  Conduct visual weld inspections and coordinate NDE and destructive testing  Develop and deliver training programmes for all skill levels  Ensure documentation is completed for audit readiness  Support continuous improvement in welding standards and practices   This role is full time, 35 hours per week and based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.   Essential experience of the Weld Training Officer Strong welding background with knowledge of MMA, FCAW, MIG/MAG, and TIG processes  Experience in a highly regulated environment, ideally marine or defence  Excellent communication skills and computer literacy  Attention to detail when presenting technical information  Understanding of quality control and documentation requirements   Qualifications for the Weld Training Officer Level 3 Technical Certificate (City & Guilds or BTEC) in Welding or equivalent  Willingness to undertake further training, including CSWIP Weld Instructor certification  CSWIP 3.0 Visual Weld Inspection - Desirable   Security ClearanceThe successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.   Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
