Division: Global News Edmonton Work Status: Regular Part-Time Location: Edmonton, AB (On-site) About the Role: Global Edmonton is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Weather Anchor to join our team. Reporting to the News Director/Station Manager, you will deliver engaging weather forecasts on-air and across multiple digital platforms. This role requires flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. This is a Group I position under the current collective agreement. You will contribute by: Plan, produce, and present dynamic live and pre-taped weather forecasts. Research and develop original weather-related stories. Report live on-location for significant weather events. Pitch, write, book guests, and conduct interviews. Leverage social media to engage audiences and enhance weather coverage. Write, post, and promote weather content for globalnews.ca. Support weather-related breaking news across TV, radio, and online platforms. Collaborate with other Global News meteorologists to share best practices. Stay informed on local and national news and weather events. Participate in station promotions and community initiatives as a visible ambassador. Skills and experience you will bring: Post-secondary education in a broadcasting-related field. Minimum 3 years of on-air anchor or reporting experience, with strong presentation skills. Passion for storytelling with an emphasis on weather. Experience with WSI or other computerized weather graphics systems is an asset. Meteorology degree and/or C.M.O.S. accreditation is a strong advantage. Excellent digital and social media skills, with knowledge of multi-platform content delivery. Ability to thrive under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities. Collaborative, adaptable, and positive team player with strong editorial judgment.
