QBE Capital, the captive reinsurer of QBE, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated professional to join our casualty and property underwriting team as an Underwriting Assistant. The purpose of this role is to provide efficient and timely administrative and technical support to the Underwriting team, ensuring exceptional customer service and resolution of enquiries from Brokers/partners. The role involves assisting underwriters with policy administration, underwriting new business and renewals within set guidelines and service standards, and contributing to the achievement of business objectives. Responsibilities: Support the lifecycle of policies from new business, Mid Term Adjustments (MTAs), and renewals through to their cancellation or lapse, including managing credit control activities and ensuring timely closings are received within 30 days of inception. Assist with underwriting new business, MTAs, and renewals following Governance Underwriting Standards and Product rules. Develop and maintain system and process knowledge within Distribution. Maintain current knowledge of insurance guidelines, policy changes, and modifications. Provide underwriting and claims customer service support to intermediary and direct customers. Comply with all legislation, industry codes, and company policies. Develop good working relationships and ensure timely communication with internal customers and stakeholders. Assist in identifying and implementing 'best practice' and process improvements to reduce expenses. Participate in internal and external meetings to share and develop strategy, knowledge, and best practices. Contribute to continuous quality improvement processes and self-learning. Requirements: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent and at least two years of relevant work experience. Prior customer service or insurance support experience is advantageous. Relevant certifications such as completion of the Lloyds & Market tests or equivalent or, be presently working towards completion of a relevant designation is preferred Familiarity with insurance market trends and current organisational strategies is advantageous as is underwriting experience in insurance business with policy documentation handling experience. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders. Strong organisational and analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
