Job title: Underwriting Assistant – Marine Liability Location: 20 Fenchurch Street, London (Walkie Talkie building) Position Type: Permanent, 35 hours per week Hybrid: Minimum 4 days in the office Overview: This role is a great opportunity for a strong administrator to join our Marine Liability team providing support to 4 underwriters. No insurance experience is required although it would be advantageous. The role will suit a pro-active, well organised candidate who is interested in the insurance industry. They will be a key member of the team. Key Responsibilities: Process broker enquiries (including renewals, new business, quotes etc.) on underwriting databases including Power BI. Assist underwriters in the pre-bind underwriting process for new business and renewals, including creating references and setting up front sheets on PowerApps. Support the Underwriters during underwriting hours to maximise efficiency in handling broker enquiries. Point of Contact for Liaison with the data entry team. Ad hoc administration duties including copying, scanning and maintenance of Underwriting files. Ensure that aggregate data is correctly captured into our systems. Filing of policy documents and information into the ImageRight database to support underwriters with legal compliance and reporting. Risk data entry checking. Attend underwriter meetings and taking of minutes as required. Monitoring of PEGA system to ensure tasks are completed. Daily update of SkyTek system for monitoring vessel aggregation in HRA. Ad Hoc duties and projects from research work to organising corporate entertainment. Performance Objective To take on the administration for the team from the Underwriters. To ensure that underwriting files are complete and correctly recorded. Skills and Experience Specification: Essential: Excellent IT skills including data manipulation within Excel is required. Proven ability to organise their time and manage multiple priorities. Works well in a team environment. A minimum of Grades A to C (9 – 4) in GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) Ability to take ownership of tasks and work on their own initiative when required. Self-motivated and a proven pro-active approach to their work. Always seeking to provide the best support possible to the team. Strong numeracy skills. Strong communication skills – both written and verbal. Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy. Service orientated – both to external clients and colleagues. Desirable: Previous experience of working within insurance would be an advantage but is not a requirement.
