Our Transfer Station at Northumberland Wharf is a key part of this mission, and we’re looking for a dedicated Transfer Station Operative to join our hardworking team. As a Transfer Station Operative, you’ll be at the heart of our operations, ensuring the smooth and safe handling of household and commercial waste. You’ll work closely with a team of skilled operatives, supporting the day-to-day running of the site and occasionally assisting at the Reuse and Recycling Centre (RRC). Every task you take on helps us deliver an efficient service to the community. Your responsibilities will include operating machinery and cranes, or learning to do so if you’re new to this area. You’ll also help maintain a clean and tidy site, ensuring we meet health and safety standards and keep our neighbours happy by preventing complaints. This role involves shift work, including scheduled weekends, so flexibility is key. The shift pattern rotates weekly: early mornings (06:00–14:00), afternoons (14:00–22:00), and a week that includes Saturday and Sunday shifts (08:00–18:00). It’s vital that you’re able to arrive on time for these shifts to keep our site operating.
