The Role Position: Technical Solutions Manager (Network Architect) (Non-Union) (Multiple Positions) Division: Infrastructure Operations Manager: Jerry Varghese Location: Multiple Locations (Corporate) The Technical Solutions Manager (Network Architect) will be responsible for developing network architectures for new solutions based on customer requirements and providing proactive architectural recommendations to existing clients by analyzing capacity and performance management, learning from operations, and understanding customer needs. This position is part of the Solutions & Architecture team within the Network Services department, which offers network infrastructure architectural services to current and potential future clients. This position will maintain close relationships with vendors, staying informed about industry best practices and emerging technology opportunities. The Network Architect will leverage their creative problem-solving skills and industry knowledge to collaborate with various internal teams and identify potential opportunities to offer additional solutions. While the primary focus will be on project-related deployment, this individual will also use their expertise and technical skills to assist in resolving network issues through escalation. The successful candidate will play a key role within a larger team, providing direct support to customers for improving existing infrastructure and for new initiatives and projects related to network services. Additionally, there will be involvement in proof-of-concept and RFPs to support the team. This position will provide services to specific clientele where the requirement is to be either at the client’s or client-authorized sites/premises or at authorized remote locations with proximity to such sites or premises. The successful candidate will also assist with other projects as assigned. The successful candidate will report directly to the Manager, Network Solutions & Architecture. This is a Non-Union role subject to regular business working conditions and occasional travel is a requirement of the role. This role is also expected to evolve as ISM’s business evolves. NOTE: the preferred work location for this position is Regina, Saskatchewan; however, the work location will be dependent upon the location of the successful candidate. Responsibilities: Proactively identify and implement architectural changes to network infrastructure to support and introduce new services, technologies, and network solutions, or to address performance or capacity issues in existing network infrastructure. Consistently collaborate with customers, the internal sales team, and the operations team to advise on and transform network and security infrastructure, improving performance, stability, availability, and security. Research the industry and identify potential use cases to boost revenue, enhance customer satisfaction, and increase market penetration. Document, develop, and maintain network use cases to enhance optimization, automation, and modernization. Build consensus on solutions with stakeholders in customers, sales team, and the Network team. Translate customer requirements into technical specifications for product and solution designs, then build and present a business case to senior management. Maintain detailed documentation to ensure evolving requirements and technologies are captured and communicated. Create and update detailed architecture diagrams and documentation and develop standardized offerings. Lead relationships with vendors to participate in roadmap discussions and align service offerings. Lead Proof-of-Concepts with vendors and cross-functional teams. Facilitate knowledge sharing by presenting and explaining complex technical subjects. Identify and support KPIs to maintain system health and respond to business demands. Lead/support the development of non-production infrastructure to test, validate and train on new concepts and network infrastructure architecture. Demonstrate leadership and interpersonal skills. Provide mentoring and coaching to other team members. Provide technical solutions and support during service outage incidents when escalated. Respond to and resolve escalations and collaborate with internal stakeholders and vendors on incident management. Define long-term vision with minimal known requirements and changing needs. Explore customer feedback and analytics to drive improvements in the products and services offered. Proactively ensures optimal performance of existing infrastructure and drives innovation through automation and process improvements to enhance productivity. Participate in infrastructure design consulting, vendor engagements, and production implementations, while collaborating with various business and technology teams to review requirements and recommend solutions. Other duties as assigned Who You Are Qualifications: Relevant post-secondary education, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training, plus over 8 years of experience in developing network architecture concepts based on customer requirements, as well as designing, implementing, and supporting complex network infrastructures Detailed experience with multiple networking technologies and vendors, including rapid proof of concept to prove out key business case metrics Proven experience bringing leading-edge/next-generation technologies to market Knowledge of Security, Authentication/Accounting systems (Firewalls, IPSec, Radius, ISE, TACACS+) Knowledge of SDWAN, QoS, MPLS, TCP/IP networks, NAT, Routing Protocols, VPRN (Virtual Private Routed Network), etc. Knowledge of transport technologies and circuit providers Proven experience fostering collaborative working environments and mentoring Key Skills & Abilities: Proficiency in Palo Alto, Cisco, Arista, and Fortinet technologies Solid understanding of routing, switching, security, SD-WAN products, and platforms Technical certifications (CCIE, CISSP – Architecture, TOGAF, etc.) Excellent time management and issue follow-up skills, with the ability to work independently, in teams, and manage multiple priorities Strong leadership and team-building abilities, with a capacity to collaborate effectively with high-performing groups Proven leadership skills in making data-driven decisions, explaining the reasons, exploring options, weighing pros and cons, and providing recommendations Knowledge of the ITSM Framework is crucial, preferably ITIL Methodology V3 and V4 Familiarity with problem-solving and decision-making methodologies, especially Kepner-Tregoe Bilingual in English and French (reading, writing, speaking) considered an asset Excellent interpersonal skills and a customer service-oriented attitude Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel *Note: This role may involve working with technology that is covered by US and/or Canadian Embargo Export Regulations; therefore all applicants will be subject to additional security screening requirements.
