Role ALS are looking for a Technical Senior Analyst to play a pivotal role in driving analytical excellence across our laboratory operations. Hours Per Week: 37 Days Per Week: Tuesday to Saturday (08:00 - 16:00) Contract: Full Time and Fixed Term Salary: £27,636 per annum Hiring Manager: Claire Cartwright Closing Date: Monday 22nd December 2025 The Day to Day Validate analytical methods to ensure accuracy, reliability and compliance. Manage instrument repair processes and maintain a proactive maintenance schedule. Monitor performance of analytical methods to maximise efficiency and effectiveness. Conduct method audits as part of the UKAS 17025 programme. Interpret, evaluate and report analytical data with clarity and precision. Troubleshoot technical issues and demonstrate strong analytical problem-solving capabilities. Work closely with the Quality Manager on proficiency testing (PT) scheme performance. Represent ALS on external technical groups when required. Provide technical advice on capital equipment purchases. Investigate non-conforming work and produce clear, actionable reports. Monitor and minimise rework through data-driven improvements. Train colleagues, assess competency, and support ongoing skill development. Promote and uphold high standards of Health & Safety across all activities. The Essentials Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant scientific discipline. Significant laboratory experience, including method development. Strong understanding of analytical and instrumentation techniques with the ability to troubleshoot effectively. Experience with proficiency testing schemes. Demonstrated experience in training, assessing and supporting competency. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex scientific data. Strong communication and IT skills. Comprehensive understanding of Quality Management Systems. Highly organised with the ability to prioritise workloads for yourself and others. Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accurate record-keeping. Commitment to Health & Safety, including safe working practices, PPE compliance and proactive incident/near-miss reporting.
