Main Purpose of the Role


The jobholder is responsible for the technical support of a team of field engineers, overseeing both CMV and reactive maintenance of communal heating systems, including consumer interface units, metering, AMR systems and prepayment systems in domestic and commercial properties.

 

To ensure the highest standards and levels of performance, customer service, engineering and health and safety, whilst supporting the development of an excellent heat networks engineering team.

 

To support the engineers with onsite training requirements and ensuring they have the necessary equipment, PPE, and van stock to meet pre-determined SLAs delivering a high standard of customer service at all times.


Main Accountabilities/Key Result Areas



  • This role is a working Technical Lead Engineer, supporting the Field Domestic Engineers on technical advice.

  • To carrying out engineer and subcontractor audits on a regular basis to ensure customer service levels and high standards of workmanship are maintained at all times.

  • To carry out Responsive, Metering, Planned or Commissioning works as required.

  • To support the Regional Field Manager as required to ensure the team have relevant and adequate training.

  • Supporting the Regional Field Manager in planning and organising the resource.

  • Production of RAMS as required.

  • Defect and fault identification/ diagnosis’s reporting as required.

  • Completing site surveys and Pre-installation visits as required for project works.

  • Ensuring quality Assurance of Switch2 compliance to contractual obligations in the dwellings

  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety Management on all sites and working procedures, and statutory health and safety requirements.

  • Liaise with on-site contractors regarding any snagging issues or 1st line escalation defect queries.

  • Carrying out adhoc training and mentoring of new/existing employees as required.

    Knowledge, Training and Relevant Experience to do the job.

    • Qualification and/or Experience in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering

    • Knowledge and experience in Community and District Heat Networks and mechanical (HIU’s)

    • Knowledge and experience in supporting Engineers.

    • A detailed understanding of various types of meters and their operation

    • Ideally a good understanding of Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) systems including Mbus, Radio and DLC etc.

    • Good working knowledge of hydraulic systems including fault finding ability.

    • Good understanding of the use of the HHT and any other administrative duties including time sheets, stock take etc.

    • Good understanding of prepayment systems including Point of sale units and prepayment units.

    • Literacy: Good computer skills.

    • Face Fit training experience

    • Safe use of ladders and inspection training

    • Ideally IOSH/SMSTS qualification
