The Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) is searching for a Programme Area Manager to support and enhance our project delivery team. What will you be doing as our new Programme Area Manager? You will oversee the execution of multiple projects, ensuring delivery to time, cost and quality standards while driving profitability and efficiency. The role demands a strategic approach to project management, financial control, and resource allocation, alongside the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with client stakeholders, supply chain partners, subcontractors, internal teams, and third-party organisations. You will be responsible for developing business cases that support the overarching programme, including benefit identification and costing, and for managing the delivery of large-scale infrastructure projects (£100M+) as well as a broader portfolio spanning systems, processes and people. Key responsibilities: Provide leadership to a team of Project Managers Direct and motivate the work stream teams and their leads and provide direction and support Lead, co-ordinate, monitor, review and report on the work streams with respect to time, cost, performance and quality Ensure interim and long-term programme milestones are set and met Maximise value / minimise cost wherever possible Consolidate updates from teams / work stream leads and sponsors, to provide highlight reports for each area and present at relevant programme governance meetings Challenge current work practices and cultural approaches, and lead the development of new ways and systems of working to ensure strategy requirements are met A little bit about your skills, experience and behaviours: This job might be for you if you have: A degree in a relevant subject Experience across a broad spectrum of building disciplines with proven commercial, contractual and human resource management skills A proven track record of improved client relationships through successful project delivery; A proven history in effective programme management Commercial awareness with a track record of working with customers to realise business benefits Flexibility to cope with multiple workstreams and changes to working assumptions Experience in leading and delivering large scale projects of work including water infrastructure, non-infrastructure or large-scale linear projects, and in leading multi contractor, multi-disciplined teams, unifying them into an industry leading delivery team. Experience in stakeholder management; including customers, client, site operators, landowners, utility companies and statutory authorities.
