Reports to: Silhouette Multimedia Editor Hours:4 – 6 hours Whether it’s a breaking news story or an ongoing investigation, Silhouette reporters will be there and are committed to informing the student body of the issues and concerns that affect their lives. The Sil’s sports section is your best way to keep up with the exploits of the many Mac varsity teams, while Arts & Culture provides useful and insightful profiles, features, and tips to help you get the most out of student life. The Sil’s opinions section is your own forum through which you can speak to the masses. Got something to say? Submit an OpEd piece by two days prior to that week’s publication. Please note this posting closes September 30th at 11:59pm. The Photo Assistant is responsible for taking photos that tell stories, to complement the textual elements of the publication. Compensation, while not financial, may include letters of reference, appreciation nights, valuable experience writing for a newspaper, and awards and gift cards for best writing. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Comfort with computers and Adobe Photoshop Keen eye and imagination for quality photos Ability to plan and create original visual content with minimal guidance Knowledge of cameras and other photographic equipment Effort and Responsibility Effort required to put in long hours on production nights, and responsibly maintain camera equipment Working Conditions Late evening work is involved Training and Experience Photography experience (shooting in a variety of situations such as moving subjects or profiles) Photo editing experience with Adobe Photoshop Experience with yearbooks, newspapers an asset Equipment Computer Camera, variety of lenses and flash Studio equipped with lighting equipment and backdrops Locked cabinet to store equipment For a full list of duties and responsibilities, please download the job description here.
