We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Development Engineer in Test to join our team in Edinburgh. In this role, you will lead the design, development, and execution of automated test solutions, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, secure, and resilient software. You’ll play a key part in defining and evolving our test automation strategy in line with global engineering best practices while mentoring junior engineers and promoting a culture of quality across the development lifecycle. Responsibilities: Strong expertise in automation tools and frameworks such as Selenium, Core Java/Java, and Cucumber Act as a senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), preferably with experience in the Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) domain Participate in refinement sessions to ensure a comprehensive understanding of functional requirements and associated testing needs Define and implement comprehensive testing strategies to ensure adherence to established quality standards Provide mentorship and guidance to junior SDETs and QA engineers in applying testing and automation best practices Evaluate, establish, and continuously maintain the scope of testing activities to validate system functionality and sustain consistent product quality Stay current with emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies to support the ongoing evolution and optimisation of the automated testing framework Advocate for quality engineering principles across the software development lifecycle and facilitate effective cross-functional collaboration Deep knowledge in designing, developing, and maintaining automated test scripts Analyse requirements to identify all necessary functional and non-functional testing within established timelines Design and execute tests using approved automation, functional, and performance testing tools, aligned with the overall test strategy Ensure products meet minimum quality standards and are fully functional, reliable, and user-friendly Apply all relevant quality assurance protocols, processes, and procedures comprehensively Strictly adhere to specified functional requirements and established QA standards Troubleshoot and resolve quality assurance–related issues or defects effectively Demonstrated proficiency in SQL/Database management and JMeter Experience and knowledge in API and services testing as well as UI testing Conduct performance, functional, and regression testing, including root cause analysis. Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline 6 years of relevant experience in test automation and quality engineering Experience in architecting and coding automated test solutions Has written and led development for automated test initiatives using relevant technologies (Java, PL/SQL) Can demonstrate leadership in test automation architecture, driving change and strategic decisions across teams Experience working in a modern, mature, and heavily test-automated business environment Proficiency in multiple testing frameworks and testing styles Strong knowledge of QA methodologies and automation practices Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure high-quality product delivery. #LI-DS1 #LI-Hybrid We are dedicated to fostering a collaborative, engaging, and inclusive environment and are committed to providing a workplace that empowers associates to be authentic and bring their best to work.
