Job Title Senior Site Supervisor Job Description Reports to: Construction Manager / Construction Group Leader UK Location: London – Heathrow Contract Type: Permanent Introduction to role Vanderlande is a global market leader in material handling systems. Working within Airports projects, the Senior Supervisor will be responsible for the supervision and delivery of all electrical and mechanical installation activities in line with the programme schedule operating within the Vanderlande site supervisory structure. As a Senior Supervisor, you will manage Mechanical and Electrical sub-contractor teams for installing and commissioning baggage handling systems. You will lead on-site installations and processes of complex equipment without direct supervision. You should follow detailed work instructions and make changes using correct procedures with support from project teams such as Project Management, Engineering, R&D, or Supply Chain. The role includes improving Vanderlande’s continuous improvement strategy by updating manuals, training guides, and site documentation. You will report on progress, perform gap analysis, and suggest countermeasures to the Site/Construction Manager, while coordinating with subcontractors, clients, and PC's representatives. You will also promote a Stay Safe culture, ensuring that project teams and subcontractors implement good safety practices during site delivery phases and project activities. Role Responsibilities As a Senior Site Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing mechanical, electrical, and control installations. You will guide and train installation teams, inspect and diagnose complex systems, and interpret engineering drawings. Supervise Mechanical, Electrical, and Control Installation teams on both Airside and Landside operations. Inspect and diagnose complex mechanical and electrical systems. Interpret E Plan drawings, site engineering drawings regarding layout, location, and system operation. Possess existing experience knowledge of LV, PLC systems (Siemens), various hardware types, and communication protocols (Profinet, Ethernet, Profibus, ASI). Support I/O commissioning, testing, and integration of material handling systems. Manage quality inspections of installed equipment, focusing on electrical and mechanical installations. Ensure equipment is installed per specifications in coordination with engineers. Support site handover and conduct installation area surveys. Awareness of contract responsibilities and identification of deviations. Report progress to Site Manager and Project Managers using available software. Participate in Project Progress meetings. Ensure electrical and control installation progress meets program milestones. Maintain site safety and quality of installed electrical and control equipment. Generate daily, weekly, and monthly installation reports and conduct toolbox talks with the supervisor team. Collaborate with the project manager to establish policies and procedures related to Field Support Role Qualification and Skills Experience in successful supervising large teams during delivery of large and complex automation projects Successful proven implementation of all phases of a project, ranging from pre-construction through to handover Managing a multi-functional team, interfacing with clients where appropriate, and chairing meetings locally at site level as required. Adept at conflict resolution Awareness and understanding of CDM Regulations and HASWA.
