As Senior Project Manager for Major Projects, you will be responsible for the successful  development and delivery of multi-million-pound investment projects, ensuring alignment with business drivers, objectives and governance requirementsThe Senior Project Manager provides leadership across several projects and programs simultaneously, including larger or more complex undertakings. They work within a matrix organization, coordinating with regional delivery teams, engineering specialists, commercial colleagues, and external stakeholders to ensure projects are realised successfully.Rather than line managing individual Project Managers, the Senior Project Manager provides strategic oversight, coordination, and decision-making to ensure projects are deliverable, fit for purpose, and managed through commercially and technically sound processes. They draw on the support of the PMO to embed best practice project controls and governance across all projects.The role has authority to guide projects on a day-to-day basis, seeking approval and direction when changes in cost, time or risk present themselves. The Senior Project Manager will represent projects at governance and steering groups and will safeguard Vattenfall’s interests by ensuring contractual, financial and technical integrity of all Major Projects.Reporting to the Director of Major Projects, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the portfolio of projects in the London region ensuring they are delivered safely and to the required time, budget, and quality.Key Responsibilities / DutiesLeadership of a Portfolio of projects through all stages of the project lifecycle from Feasibility and business case to execution and handover to internal stakeholders.Lead negotiation of Delivery matters during Feasibility and Development stages of projects (i.e. Design Frameworks and Construction Contracts)Manage overall project budgets; authorised to spend budget within years approved plan. (in line with relevant Governance procedures)Effective Planning, resource allocation and management of resourcing plan from the support functions and/or regional unitBuild strong relationship with external and internal partners and stakeholdersEnsure best practice is shared across the regions through regular engagement with Head of Delivery, consulting with the Head of Delivery for project matters and Director Major Projects for governance, regional and stakeholder interactions.Leading Health and Safety; ensuring it is delivered through functional teams (i.e. Engineering) and Contractors / ConsultantsEnsure all project and works delivered are complaint with Vattenfall Heat UK management systemsEnsuring a high standard of information/ configuration managementManage the project to ensure all contractual aspects between Vattenfall, clients and contractors, ensuring the compliance of all parties, particularly with respect to completion of Project prior to programmed operational start dateDevelop and maintain effective working relationships with project Sponsors and the Head of Delivery, who maintains and steers the Major Projects delivery management organisation and the Head of Engineering who leads the engineering teams.To monitor and update the plan throughout the project period and produce weekly/monthly project progress report to the Head of DeliveryKnowledge and SkillsEnd to end project experience of leading projects and teamsExperience of leading procurement to define the project requirements and contractual needsDependable team manager with coaching, development and line management abilitiesAn eye for detail and for meeting the Client’s expectationsStrong experience of defining and monitoring project management tools and related technologyExcellent interpersonal and communication skills (including customer presentations).Sensitivity to commercial development and ability to work in complementarity with the commercial teamKnowledge of financial indicators for project follow-upStrong legal and contract management knowledgeMaster the risk management cultureFlexible and organised; able to plan concurrent assignments and manage unexpected circumstancesQualificationsProven project management experience in District Heating projects including project realisation, site supervision and commissioning or demonstratable transferable knowledgeContracting and legal management experience, preferably with UK standard form contractsConflict resolution and maintaining contractor performanceExperience working closely with business stakeholders in related industriesExperience leading and understanding of full project or product lifecycleProven experience demonstrating leadership, drive results, solving problems from prior work situationsStrong background in safe operation of sites supported with formal training (NEBOSH/IOSH or equivalent) Degree or HND qualifiedAdditional InformationOur offerLooking for a role where your strengths can be leveraged to the maximum and with limitless opportunities for growth?The scale and ambition of our wind, battery and solar business means you can really find your element with us.
