Closes: Friday, Oct 3, 2025 The Senior Guidewire Developer is responsible for delivering enterprise-grade software solutions to meet business objectives using the Guidewire Cloud product suite and related integrations. Senior Guidewire Developers consistently deliver high-quality solutions while providing technical leadership and mentorship across teams. They serve as technical experts in delivering complex projects and driving architectural decisions. The position requires mastery of the Guidewire Platform, understanding of insurance business processes, and the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions. Senior Guidewire Developers strengthen collaboration between technical teams and business stakeholders. They provide expert troubleshooting for production incidents and contributes to improving incident response protocols. Participates in standby rotation and/or callback incidents as assigned. Key Accountabilities Note: This section is not intended to be an exhaustive list of duties and responsibilities – other duties and responsibilities may be assigned Development Guidewire Development Leads both configuration and integration development efforts within the Guidewire Cloud platform, setting architectural direction and standards. Leads development of insurance applications using advanced GOSU programming techniques and optimizes Guidewire's configuration tools for enterprise-scale solutions. Evaluates and implements solutions using Guidewire tools and accelerators, including Marketplace assets and predefined plugins, making strategic decisions to maximize business value. Designs and builds complex integrations between Guidewire modules (PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, ClaimCenter) and external systems, establishing integration patterns and frameworks. Serves as technical experts for making critical configuration and customization decisions within the Guidewire ecosystem. Leads configuration and development activities within each feature/sprint, removing impediments and resolving complex technical challenges. Establishes and enforces code and configuration review processes to ensure adherence to Guidewire best practices and coding standards Identifies and strategically addresses technical debt within applications, developing comprehensive remediation plans and implementation strategies. Drives security principles across Guidewire implementations, evaluating potential vulnerabilities and implementing robust security controls to safeguard sensitive insurance data and ensure regulatory compliance. Maintains an advanced understanding of the current best practices and capabilities for development and configuration within the Guidewire platform, with the ability to explain the trade offs of customization or configuration. o Develops, maintains and/or supports surrounding integrations as required. Technical Leadership Offer technical guidance and mentorship to developers. Ensures code quality and best practices are adhered to. Understands and contributes to relevant standards and patterns and work to ensure they are followed and understood by others. Acts as an escalation point for incidents or coding issues raised by team members. Collaborates with other developers, architects, and principals to establish new patterns. Leads the planning and execution of Guidewire product upgrades, ensuring that all tasks are completed on time. Architecture Design Ensures alignment with architectural best practices. Participates in scheduling, prioritizing, estimating and delivering work items within the team's backlogs. Troubleshooting & Support Identifies and resolves performance and scalability issues. Debugs complex issues in a timely and efficient manner. Manages and communicates technical debt within applications. Merges code continuously, adhering to branching and continuous integration processes. Deploys and monitors solutions in all environments. Documents release notes and activities. Performs Problem Management investigation tasks. Oversees the incident management process, ensuring effective coordination with business stakeholders and partners. Guides the team in conducting root cause analysis and developing actionable solutions. Guides other team members through troubleshooting and debugging challenging technical problems beyond their current experience level. Testing & Quality Assurance Peer-review expert for code check-ins. Creates and maintains automated scripts for functional and non-functional testing. Performs manual exploratory and usability testing. Execute tests using multiple configurations and automation scripts. Creates and executes automated acceptance, performance, security and load testing. Supports code in production, including coordinating support escalations. Maintain test cases and integration, and plan for failure tests. Education and Certifications Four-year degree from an accredited post-secondary education institution in a relevant field of study, such as Information Technology, or defined equivalency. A Guidewire Developer Associate certification. Working towards or completion of an Ace Certification. Experience Three to five (3 – 5) years of directly related experience in Guidewire software development.
