Description

The role ensures programme predictability, integrates cost, risk, and schedule data, and promotes a culture of proactive schedule management across contractors, consultants, and internal teams. By enabling informed decision-making and embedding best practice, the Schedule Lead directly contributes to successful programme outcomes.



Responsibilities

Programme Scheduling Activities

 

  • Develop and Manage Schedules – Build project schedules from first principles where required, review and validate contractor schedules, and ensure alignment with programme objectives.
  • Enable Programme Predictability – Analyse schedule risks, scope changes, and delays; provide early warnings and actionable insights to maintain transparency and control.
  • Facilitate Collaboration – Lead cross-project scheduling forums, ensuring alignment across design, construction, and capacity planning teams.
  • Integrate with Cost & Risk – Work closely with cost and risk teams to inform accurate forecasting, cashflow alignment, and integrated programme reporting.
  • Monitor & Report Performance – Track progress against the baseline, highlight deviations, propose corrective actions, and deliver timely reports to senior management.
  • Develop and maintain a detailed project schedule that aligns with the annual capital budget and cashflow projections. Ensure that all project timelines are realistic and achievable.
  • Provide detailed project timelines and milestones to senior management. Ensure that the schedule is integrated into the budget proposals and forecasts, highlighting any potential scheduling conflicts or delays.
  • Drive Best Practice & Culture – Champion consistent scheduling methodologies, mentor team members, and influence contractors to strengthen scheduling maturity across the programme.
  • Drive a positive, motivated culture within the scheduling team and ensure they are invested in managing and

improving scheduling performance.

  • Establish and maintain a good, professional, and pro-active relationship within and outside of the programme controls team.
  • Make timely responses to scheduling queries and requests for information from stakeholders.

 



Qualifications

Experience & Skills

  • At least 5+ years’ experience within the infrastructure industry   
  • Ability to coordinate and organise multiple sources of schedule inputs/performance data into a master schedule platform and deliver project/program status reports as required.
  • Experience building critical path schedules from knowledge and first principles, running workshops with project resources. Experienced in defining and agreeing progress reporting approaches with contractors.   
  • Familiar with large capital programs, extensive pre-construction programming and scheduling experience

managing complex, multi-group, multi-disciplinary development projects.

  • Experience managing contractor/vendor relationships and understanding of standard practices in the design and

construction industry, including knowledge of Last Planner, Lean Methodologies, fast-track design-build process and associated documents and contracts.

  • Communication and coordination skills 
  • Process driven with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, motivating and supporting others.
  • Extremely proficient in Primavera P6.
  • Competency with Earned Value Management and ability to setup, implement and manage processes and reporting through Earned Value.
  • Clearly conveys complex scheduling information to all stakeholders and adapts style for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Proactively identifies scheduling issues, develops creative solutions, and remains effective under pressure or when priorities shift.

 

Education and Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, or equivalent technical degree 

Professional Memberships

  • Membership with a professional body is desirable, but not mandatory.
