As a member of the Middle East Engineering Support team, the candidate will work on design projects, site layouts, in-field supervision and oversight of installations and advise on structural and mechanical repairs. The candidate will be expected to work closely with regional and operational managers to ensure H&P’s engineering needs are met for Middle East operations. The candidate will work seamlessly with other engineers, drafting and field inspectors to accomplish the task at hand. The engineer will supply drawings, advisory and answer any engineering related requests from the district and field personnel. As a Project Engineer, the candidate will be expected to work hand in hand with the Eastern Hemisphere Engineering team to assist with in field audits, data gathering and other field-based assistance. What you will do: Provide mechanical solutions for various projects on all rig components. Value engineer existing build programs as well as in-field upgrades. Coordinate construction projects with local fabricators. Design new mechanical equipment, hydraulic arrangements and analyze current builds for modification projects. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with H&P’s primary fabrication facilities regionally. Formalize technical reports from design analysis. Provide technical support for operations on structural repairs, in field upgrades as well as CAT III & IV inspections. Mentor junior engineers and be available to advise cross functionally throughout the company. Qualifications: Minimum Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering Minimum of 2-3 years of mechanical/structural design experience, strong ability to perform and organize hand calculations and computer aided design analysis. Experience with drilling rig design is beneficial. Familiar with AISC design practices Familiarity with API specification and recommended practices is beneficial Knowledgeable on general structural steel fabrication practices, welding and improving fabrication drawings Familiar with hydraulic systems Strong ability to lead projects and be a self-starter. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and CAD software is beneficial. Team player with a service attitude Excellent communication and organizational skills Ability to work and communicate with office, shop, and oil field personnel In-country and regional travel required to fabrication facilities, assembly facilities, and rig locations.
