Position Overview The Research Specialist is responsible for the daily functions pertaining to researching unidentified payments. This position works toward the resolution of problem transactions that result from the processing of payments or the generation of disbursements. Coordinates with Child support Field Units, county officials, other states, employers, and other various entities to distribute child support funds to the appropriate recipients, research, track, and report child support payments that become unclaimed property when research is unable to locate payees within state deadlines, and recoup monies owed as a result of Non-sufficient Funds (NSF) for child support payments. In addition, responsible for other duties as assigned. Required Skills: Modern office practices, procedures, and equipment Ability to pay attention to detail Accurately key data Work independently with little direction and work as a team member Meet stringent scheduled and timelines Work successfully in a fast-paced environment Work varied scheduled and overtime hours, as necessary Knowledge of policies and procedures involved in SDU payment processing Thorough working knowledge of the SMI system Required Experience: Experience and knowledge of software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Windows products. High school diploma or equivalent and at least one-year prior experience in data entry or other related field OR an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the duties assigned.
