The midpoint of the range is approximately halfway between the minimum and the maximum and represents an employee that possesses full job knowledge, qualifications and experience for the position. Job Summary The successful applicant will provide intake psychosocial assessments for the MyHEARTSMAP-Chinese Study. MyHEARTSMAP-Chinese is a culturally adapted digital mental health self-assessment tool for Chinese youth in Canada, which allows youth and/or their parents to self-identify any support needs across 10 psychosocial areas. This research study aims to evaluate the predictive validity of MyHEARTSMAP-Chinese compared to a mental health care provider’s assessment. The successful applicant will conduct a standard assessment without knowledge of the MyHEARTSMAP-Chinese results, then complete a digital data collection form to report any identified psychosocial issues. All assessments will be conducted virtually with the participant. The successful applicant must have a flexible schedule as assessments may take place in evenings or weekends. Organizational Status Position requires a working relationship with other Research staff. Accepts direction from Study Coordinator and ultimately accountable to the Principal Investigator. This position requires close interaction with research assistants and study subjects. Work Performed The duties of the successful candidate will include, but are not limited to: - Conducting standard intake psychosocial assessments with study participants - Collecting and inputting data into an online REDCap database and report any identified psychosocial issues after assessments are complete - Collecting and reviewing pertinent information/history, drawing on knowledge of mental health and counselling knowledge and skills when conducting assessments - Determining the need for emergent crisis intervention, should any severe/acute safety concerns arise, and facilitating timely intervention - Participates in team meetings; may be required to attend information sessions while the study is in progress. - Performs other related duties as assigned Consequence of Error/Judgement Duties are performed according to operating procedures. The person needs to understand their role and be reliable and courteous with participants and colleagues. Any errors in missing or being late for appointments, breaches in confidentiality, errors in assessments or poor interview conduct will tarnish the study’s reputation and could lead to loss of data and loss of participants. Professionalism is of the utmost importance. The person will also be required to exercise good judgment and discretion while using confidential information. Supervision Received Supervision will be provided by the PI, who is a physician, and the research coordinator. The incumbents act independently within established protocols and ethical guidelines. Routine work does not require daily supervision; however, the end result will be checked by the Study Coordinator and the Principal Investigator will be available for questions that arise. Supervision Given Not required. Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology or a related field. Eligible for professional certification in British Columbia. Minimum of three years of relevant experience in clinical counselling, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. - Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one’s own - Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one’s own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion Preferred Qualifications - Must be able to speak fluent Mandarin and/or Cantonese in addition to English.
