As a member of the epilepsy health care team, the Registered Practical Nurse will work in the EMU and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team in the provision of epilepsy care. The Registered Practical Nurse supports the specialized day-to-day needs of patients undergoing epilepsy monitoring in the EMU. 1. Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse 2. Current Medication Administration and Asepsis certificates 3. Current certificates or current community college studies in asepsis, wound care, airway management, complex wound care, patient assessment, urinary catheterization, administering enteral feeds, medication administration, IV administration and IV management, transcribing physician orders 4. Current Heart and Stroke Foundation BCLS certification or equivalent 5. Completion of Physical Assessment Course 6. Recent experience (2 years) in acute adult care. 7. Demonstrates strong interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills 8. Demonstrates critical thinking and decision making in assessment, problem identification and problem solving 9. Ability to prioritize and collaborate with the team when the patients condition changes 10. Evidence of commitment to professional practice and ongoing professional development 11. Demonstrates excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently 12. Member of Professional association considered an asset 13. Experience or interest in developing expertise with the epilepsy population.
