As the second of the UK’s next generation of nuclear power stations, SZC is both of high profile and high complexity. Its delivery will be reliant not only on innovative engineering and construction but also on the strongest of leadership qualities amongst its Project Managers. This role will provide leadership to ensure the effective and co-ordinated delivery of the rail projects, which is part of the Off-site. delivery sub programme, within the SZC Site delivery programme, whilst recognising and managing the impacts of the programme on the wider Project. The Rail Delivery Manager role is to develop and deliver the Implementation plan for safely delivering the rail projects to cost, schedule and quality within the agreed constraints. The AD4 rail projects comprise the following principal elements: Upgrade of the Saxmundham to Leiston (SIZ) branch line and its junction with the east Suffolk (ESK) line. Construction of a new, temporary, railhead in the ancillary construction area (ACA). Construction of a new, temporary, single-track railway, from the SIZ branch line to the SZC construction site. Construction of a new, temporary, railhead in the temporary construction area (TCA). Upgrades to the east Suffolk (ESK) line, including level crossings, track and signalling (delivery by Network Rail). You’ll be responsible for: Managing full lifecycle rail project delivery, ensuring safety, quality, time, and cost compliance. Driving planning and execution strategies aligned with project requirements and stakeholder expectations. Managing risk, change control, and continuous improvement across all phases. Maintaining robust governance and reporting against milestones and budgets. Fostering collaboration across internal teams, alliances, and external stakeholders. Directing and coordinating rail contracts, schedules, and deliverables to meet programme objectives. Securing and managing resources, ensuring capability and performance across multidisciplinary teams. Monitoring progress, resolve issues, and escalate risks to senior leadership. Applying earned value management and quality assurance principles consistently. Championing lessons learned and best practice sharing across projects. You’ll need to have: Proven experience delivering complex, multi-disciplinary rail projects in regulated environments. Expertise in engineering design, contract management, and EPCM project delivery. Skilled in cost, risk, schedule control and earned value management. Strong stakeholder engagement and leadership across diverse teams and interfaces.
