As a Radiation Therapist, you will implement prescribed treatments to patients with various forms of cancer. In this role, your work is an essential element of our innovative care plan designed to aid the cancer fighting journey. This position offers several professional development opportunities. Therapists can cross-train across multiple treatment modalities, including Edge, TrueBeam, Simulation, and HDR. They can progress to serving as a lead on each machine and eventually take on expanded responsibilities as a Therapist II or Technical Manager. Team members may also attend conferences and training seminars to support ongoing continuing education. A caregiver in this position works days from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Provide therapeutic and patient care services to deliver radiation therapy as prescribed by a physician. Determine and deliver appropriate patient treatment plans in collaboration with physician and dosimetrist. Monitor and document patient's condition, report any adverse reactions. Assess and educate patients according to specific department protocols. Position patients and select anatomic/technical parameters accurately. Check and adjust necessary equipment, including linear accelerator. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Graduate of a CAHEA approved School of Radiation Therapy technology or registry eligible Board certified Registered Radiation Therapist through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT), R.T.(R)(T)(ARRT) in good standing Current state licensure Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for healthcare providers through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross Experience with Radiation Oncology and specific electronic medical records Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Experience with External Radiation Therapy, IMRT, IGRT and CT Simulation Physical Requirements: Ability to perform duties while walking, standing, stooping, reaching and lifting. Ability to lift materials weighing up to 35 lbs. Ability to push/pull over 100 lbs. Dexterity sufficient to perform computer functions. Safe Operating Procedure for x-ray generating equipment. Ability to work the hours of operation - flexible. Ability to take "call" on weekdays and weekends based on a rotational schedule. Ability to float to other CCHS facilities when needed.
