Role Summary Central Services is a newly formed team dedicated to delivering safe, effective, and professional maintenance and engineering services across Anglian Water. As a Quantity Surveyor within Central Services, you will play a pivotal role in providing commercial assurance and financial control across a high volume of lower-value Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) projects, primarily during the pre-construction phase. These projects vary in complexity, with most falling under low to medium CDM risk categories. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure projects meet stakeholder expectations while maintaining financial efficiency and contractual compliance. The role is integral to embedding commercial assurance, ensuring robust governance, value for money, and contract compliance across all areas of delivery. You will also contribute to the development of a self-delivery operational maintenance capability, focused on minor building works and mechanical and electrical projects, to enhance agility, quality, and cost efficiency. Key Responsibilities Provide accurate cost estimates and manage project budgets throughout the lifecycle. Prepare and evaluate tenders, contracts, budgets, bills of quantities, and other commercial documentation. Monitor project progress, manage cost variations, and deliver timely financial reporting. Administer various forms of contracts, ensuring full compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements. Identify and mitigate commercial risks to protect project outcomes and business interests. Support the Commercial Manager and Senior Commercial Manager in the resolution of contractual and financial disputes. Key Skills & Behaviours Experience in a similar Commercial/Contract Management role, with a degree in Quantity Surveying or Finance and working towards professional body membership (e.g., RICS, CIOB, ICE). Strong understanding of commercial contract management, NEC form of contracts, and financial processes (budgeting, forecasting, reporting). High proficiency in IT, especially MS Excel, and excellent organisational skills. Ability to build strong working relationships, communicate effectively, and work both independently and as part of a team. Demonstrates ownership, clear communication, curiosity, and a commitment to continuous improvement and learning.
