University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis is currently looking for a public safety lead officer to join our dedicated team. Our officers work together to patrol, monitor, and provide 24/7 service to people on campus. Lead Officers provide guidance and direction to the public safety officers while working with the associate director of public safety and reporting to the director of public safety. This is a full-time, benefits eligible position working 10-hour shifts on Sunday, Monday, Friday, and Saturday from 8:00pm to 6:00am. In this role, you will get to: Provide high-level service to faculty, staff and students with questions regarding parking, building access, wayfinding on campus, as well as responding with empathy and support to instances involving potential policy violation or criminal activity. Provide visible public safety presences while verifying campus access policies are in force while on foot patrols on and around campus. Monitors the operation of digital cameras, close-circuit television, card access controls, alarm systems and telephones. Track and report information on logs. Write incident reports. Follow department standard operating procedures, utilize judgement and discretion with a default toward empathy and service, collaborate and share information with other public safety staff to ensure coordination of efforts on campus ensuring officer safety. Qualifications To succeed in this role, you will need: Minimum Qualifications A high school diploma or GED required At least 3-5 years of experience working in law enforcement, security and/or military. High level customer service skills. Preference for prior public safety, military, asset protection experience. Ability to obtain and maintain an armed St Louis Metro Security License, including clear criminal record check and driving record (MVR-Hi), passing physical, and psychological evaluation. Experience with Adult CPR with First Aid and Automatic External Defibrillation (AED). Certification required within 90 days of hire if not already held. Knowledge of FEMA emergency protocols. Completion of FEMA Courses IS100, IS200. IS700, IS800, and ICS 300 within 30 days. Additional FEMA IS course completion or other emergency management, or public safety certifications are a plus. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written, and the ability to interpret and explain information to a variety of persons and groups. Strong conflict resolutions skills with high integrity and personal accountability, including the ability to verbally de-escalate conflict filled situations. Ability to value diversity and demonstrate commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally respectful interactions with persons of diverse ethnic, cultural, social-economic, or educational backgrounds. Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as the ability to work independently toward department goals. Preferred Qualifications Associate degree in criminal justice or related field preferred Prior experience working in law enforcement, security and/or military in a lead or supervisory capacity.
