Job Description: Responsible for prosecuting violations of municipal ordinances, litigating appeals by defendants in District Court, and assisting the Chief Counsel in providing legal advice and services to the Unified Government. Duties include: prosecuting Municipal violations of ordinances and codes, corresponding and meeting with victims, witnesses, defense attorneys, and defendants, handle arraignments, trials, sentencing and appeals; providing legal advice to code enforcement, building inspections, and rental licensing and other departments and agencies responsible for enforcing municipal codes and ordinances; participating in meetings, workshops, and roundtables to coordinate and develop strategies for improvement and maintenance of legally mandated standards and codes; serving as a liaison between the Unified Government and neighborhood watch groups; performing legal research; providing legal advice to Police Department and other law enforcement agencies. Qualifications: Any equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. License to practice law in Kansas and Juris Doctorate degree required. Salary Range: $36.32-$44.54/hr.
