Role Purpose Reporting into the CTO (Chief Technical Office) Head of Sustainability, this role will embed the topic of sustainability as a product into CTOi Domains, such as end user services. It will ensure that sustainability is a decision-making factor across all aspects of HSBC's these domains, enabling consistent, high-quality environmental data to drive more sustainable procurement, refresh, operations, and disposal practices across the global device estate. In driving a culture of sustainability, the role will be helping CTO support HSBC’s goal to be net zero in its operations by 2050. The scope stretches across Technology embedding new ways of working from how colleagues choose or use their end user devices to influencing architecture and hosting decisions. The role requires someone to look for opportunities to build sustainability into decision making and operations. The plan supports HSBC’s broader Tech Net Zero (TNZ) strategy and responds to increasing scrutiny from stakeholders, regulators, and customers around technology emissions. By enabling more carbon- and cost-aware decisions at every stage of the device lifecycle, the plan contributes to both operational efficiency and corporate climate goals. Key Responsibilities: Embed Sustainability: Integrate sustainability as a decision-making factor across all aspects of HSBC's technology domains, ensuring high-quality environmental data drives sustainable practices. Support Net Zero Goals: Help drive HSBC’s goal to be net zero by 2050 by embedding new ways of working and influencing decisions related to technology use and architecture. Data and Methodologies: Develop and maintain methodologies and data standards to understand and reduce technology estate emissions. ITAD/eWaste Management: Improve IT asset disposition metrics globally to reduce emissions and waste. Collaboration and Communication: Work with various teams, including AV and meeting room teams, to reduce carbon footprint and improve efficiency. Supply Chain Partnership: Collaborate with EUS, procurement leaders, and supply chain partners to integrate sustainability into standard processes. Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain long-term relationships, work cross-functionally, and lead initiatives to enhance customer experience and sustainability adoption. Key Skills: Technology and Sustainability Experience: Proven experience in the Sustainability Lifecycle End User Services platforms, impacts of IT assets and dependencies and can help develop methods of calculation of accurate data points Must have proven experience of GHG Protocols (Green House Gas) Engagement Programme Leadership: Experience in leading engagement programmes. Data Analysis: Ability to analyse data and usage trends to identify areas of improvement. Product Management Understanding: Knowledge of product management and its impact on customer experience and adoption. Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Strong skills in building relationships and articulating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking: Excellent abilities in problem-solving with a proactive, customer-focused mindset. Organisational Skills: Strong organisational and time management skills, with proficiency in using tools like PowerPoint and engagement platforms like Zoom , Teams, Slido Being open to different points of view is important for our business and the communities we serve.
