We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer to help shape Autodesk’s next-generation AI/ML platform—a foundation for building smarter, more secure, and scalable AI and generative AI solutions across our product portfolio. You’ll collaborate with research and engineering teams spanning design, construction, manufacturing, and media & entertainment to deliver a platform that supports the full AI/ML development lifecycle. Responsibilities Architect & Lead: Drive the design and development of core systems for Autodesk’s AI/ML platform, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance. Automate & Streamline: Identify opportunities to simplify and automate ML workflows, from data processing to deployment. Data & Big Data Management: Orchestrate and automate large-scale data transformations, pipelines, and artifact storage. Deploy ML Solutions: Build tools for seamless packaging, testing, and deployment of ML models into production environments. Inference at Scale: Design and implement low-latency, high-throughput prediction and inference services. Cross-Team Collaboration: Partner with researchers, product managers, architects, and engineers across domains to align solutions with business and customer needs. Architectural Ownership: Provide technical leadership and set architectural direction for critical components of the AI/ML platform. Basic Qualifications MS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience. 8+ years in software development with proven delivery of production-grade systems and services. Expertise in programming (Python, Java, Go, SQL, scripting languages). Strong record in distributed system design and scalable software architecture. Hands-on experience with AWS or Azure cloud technologies. Proficiency with big data platforms (Hadoop, Spark, Hive, NoSQL, pipelines). Experience building and optimizing data platforms (storage, retrieval, processing). Exposure to ML-enabled systems in production environments. Familiarity with MLOps practices and cloud data processing tools (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks). Experience with ML libraries/frameworks: PyTorch, TensorFlow, XGBoost, Pandas, Scikit-Learn. Exposure to open-source LLMs (e.g., Hugging Face, Llama, Mixtral). Understanding of statistical analysis and prior collaboration with data scientists or researchers. Salary transparency Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location.
