The candidate will also work supervising graduate and undergraduate students in their respective research projects. Duties Include: 70% RESEARCH: To conduct computational work on various projects of method development related to phylogenetic inference. The candidate will choose the projects that better suit their career and background. Computational tasks include (i) designing and implementing new statistical models for evolutionary inference, (ii) validating those models, and (iii) leveraging or compiling existing and new empirical data sets to show case the novelty and utility of the newly developed tools. The candidate will also be responsible for publishing manuscripts associated with its main projects, presenting new results in international conferences, actively pursuing funding opportunities, and assisting the PI in generating preliminary results for federal grants. 30% SERVICE, TRAINING & MENTORSHIP: The candidate is expected to help with the onboarding, mentoring of graduate and undergraduate students. Minimum Qualifications: PhD in evolutionary biology, computer science, bioinformatics, computational biology or a closely related field. Specific experience of Strong computational skills. Fluency with the command line and scripting languages (R, Python, Julia). Some experience with version control tools (git), IDEs and lower-level languages (Java, C++, C). Preferred experience with a Publication record that reflects career stage in the field of (computational) evolutionary biology. Demonstrated experience in carrying out in-silico pipelines and developing and maintaining library code bases.
