  The Plant Inspector acts as the inspection focal point for assigned assets, with responsibility for the day-to-day interface between inspection activities and the wider Integrity Engineering function. The role ensures inspections are completed, approved, and certified in accordance with applicable schemes, standards, and legislation.   Key Responsibilities   Serve as the inspection focal point for assigned assets, maintaining daily coordination with Inspection and Integrity Engineering functions. Understand and apply technical and professional aspects of plant inspection work, continually maintaining discipline-specific technical knowledge. Deploy discipline-specific engineering and operational standards to support inspection activities. Understand Integrity objectives and apply appropriate inspection techniques to meet these objectives. Complete and approve inspections in accordance with Written Schemes of Examination and/or Approval Specifications. Ensure plant and equipment certification complies with Altrad and Client codes of practice, inspection strategies, and relevant legislation. Assist the Plant Inspection Manager, Product Line Managers, and Senior Engineers in the effective provision and operation of inspection systems and services. Manage and supervise discipline-specific issues, providing direction to colleagues on cost, service, and technology-related matters. Provide functional and technical guidance to visiting inspection vendors and subcontractors on discipline-specific inspection matters. Ensure inspection work meets company quality standards and is delivered in a timely and cost-effective manner. Strong understanding of applied inspection techniques and integrity management objectives. Ability to apply discipline-specific engineering and operational standards. Maintains up-to-date technical knowledge relevant to plant inspection activities. Works closely with the Plant Inspection Manager, Product Line Managers, Senior Engineers, Integrity Engineering teams, and external inspection vendors.   Contract Delivery   Plan and carry out pre-surveys of equipment and where necessary identify preparation for inspection and Non Destructive Examination (NDE) requirements. Carry out Inspection of plant and pipework within the limitations of the Altrad’s issued Letter of Authority (LoA) in compliance with the Written Scheme of Examination or equivalent as well as Altrad and client procedures. Interface with NDT team to provide clarification on NDT inspection techniques in order to meet integrity objectives. Review inspection reports, isometrics, vessel general arrangements and P&ID drawings. Manage and report on the status of all in progress inspection, integrity and corrosion monitoring activities on the installation. Liaise with planning personnel to maximise opportunistic inspection of vessels, plant and equipment at the request of the client. Give technical advice in order to ensure ad-hoc inspections are completed and integrity of units are fully assessed. Maintain up to date knowledge of innovative NDT techniques. Maintain assurance of UKAS accredited NDT techniques and any knowledge of integrity threats. Support NDT personnel and other inspection, integrity and corrosion sponsored contractors in the prioritisation and planning of work.   Reporting and Compliance   Create workpacks including donating relevant NDT techniques to meet integrity objectives. Carryout detailed scoping activities, WSE creation/review /approval/ anomaly reporting and inspection reporting Give input to periodical audits of NDT Inspection to ensure compliance to procedures.   HSEQ   Contribute to Altrad HSEQ-policies. Ensure robust processes of work management and assurance are in place across their Product Line(s) and that each key account manager has an understanding of the business risk involved in non-compliance with these processes. Ensure HSEQ-policies for service delivery business activities are in line with legal requirements, recommendations of Altrad and client requirements. Ensure all HSEQ-policies and regulations within Service Delivery are maintained and regularly reviewed. Ensure that all business in conducted in compliance with Altrad legal, legal and CSR policies and standards. Promote a strong HSE culture at all times – A proactive approach to safety on site.   People Management   Establish and monitor project team working methods. Carry out briefings/Tool Box Talks to all Inspection/ NDT Personnel Ensure that the personnel selected for the scope of work are trained, qualified and competent to carry out the task. To advise projects on the training and competence assurance of the job. To support the company to recruit and development of a suitable and competent workforce. Attend pre-project briefs   Experience   Essential Suitable experience working in an in-service plant inspection role. Experience requirements differ dependent on the category of inspector being employed. Experience requirements shall fall in line with UKAS RG2 and are detailed within the  ‘Job Family Development’ table below. Experience in inspection in a relevant process industry with the majority of the above experience elements.  In particular, experience in the application of inspection tools and techniques. Ability to read and interpret commonly used engineering drawings and data sets used in support of inspection activities, e.g. piping isometrics, vessel general arrangements, piping and instrumentation diagrams, process flow diagrams, piping schedules. Detailed knowledge of the uses and limitations of commonly applied non-destructive examination techniques applied in support, e.g. MPI, DPI, UT measurement, Rad techniques. Working knowledge of the use and limitations of specialist NDE techniques applied in support of above water inspection and monitoring programmes, e.g. pulsed eddy current, thermography, time of flight diffraction, CHIME, etc. Clear understanding of major discipline issues arising from oil and gas production systems.  Awareness of materials and key degradation mechanisms associated with the deterioration of offshore production facilities. Awareness of piping and vessel design codes, e.g. ASME VIII, PD5500, ASME B31.3. Assess defects or anomalies found, ensuring use of the Altrad’s or client anomaly process e.g. IQ procedure. Strong understanding of PSSR regulations. Develop or update Written Schemes of Examination or equivalent (e.g. Inspection Test Plan) as part of inspection preparations as required. Computer literate with proven ability to use common Microsoft Office packages. Proven ability to work without supervision and to provide effective supervision to others. Ability to effectively communicate and articulate inspection and corrosion issues at all levels within offshore organisation. Ability to communicate fluently and effectively, in the English language, with peers, direct reports, sub-contract personnel and immediate management.   Desirable Familiar with typical design codes and standards for offshore pressure systems and the application and use in fitness for service assessments. Working knowledge of key legislation and regulatory framework applicable to offshore regime with understanding of major accident hazards, performance standards, assurance and verification activities. Competent in the application of ‘un-engineered’ temporary repair techniques available for offshore process and utility piping and vessels systems, e.g. box clamps, composite repairs, etc. Awareness of paint coat specifications and associated applications. Familiar with typical corrosion monitoring equipment and associated practices and procedures for retrieval.  Capable of performing download of Data Collection Units.
