Job Details Job Location: Carmel, IN Position Type: Full Time Salary Range: Undisclosed Job Shift: Day Description Summary/objective A Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) is a clinical health care provider who works alongside the Physical Therapists to provide skilled rehabilitative care. This role is crucial to provide patient access in a high-volume clinical setting where timelines are often critical. Essential functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions. Follow the protocols and philosophies of rehabilitation for the patients of Forté Sports Medicine and Orthopedics. Provide quality care in compliance with the APTA Code of Ethics. Direct involvement of patient care including execution of the treatment program including updates, adjustments and testing as well as, functional progression and discharge. See patients in a timely and efficient manner while maintaining the highest quality of patient care. Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely documentation of patient treatment. Communicate with physicians, co-workers, coaches and outside rehab specialists concerning patient care in a timely, thorough and appropriate manner based on patient needs. Assist in completing summaries of patient’s progress for insurance companies, workers compensation and/or attorneys. Be responsible for the safety of all patients in our facilities. Follow all OSHA standards for safe workplace environment and operation. Comply with all HIPAA guidelines for privacy. Competencies (Knowledge/Skills/Abilities) Knowledge of physical therapy especially in the treatment of orthopedic and sports related injuries. Superior communication skills allowing successful relationships with colleagues, public, patients, and their families. Supervisory responsibilities May assist with supervisory duties for rehab techs, in partnership with the physical therapists and rehab managers. Work environment Modern, progressive, high-volume rehabilitation facility using fitness and rehab equipment. Indoor and outdoor therapy may be required. Direct patient care with exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, bodily fluids, medical preparation and other conditions common to the clinical environment. Physical demands Assists in ambulation and transfer of patients weighing up to 400 lbs. Strength and flexibility to operate and set up patients on equipment (i.e.: Cybex, cardio, weight machines, etc.). Strength and endurance to carry out typical evaluation and treatment procedures for general orthopedic, sports medicine and total joint replacement patient population.
