Patient Care Technician / Acute Care / Per Diem Delivers direct/indirect care to patients of all ages from neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, and adult to geriatric, under the delegation/direction/supervision of a physician, registered nurse, and/or licensed practical nurse. Assists in maintaining a safe, clean environment and performs clerical/administrative functions as assigned. Demonstrates critical thinking/clinical reasoning in decision making to assure the delivery of safe, quality, timely, compassionate, and cost-effective care to the patient populations served by the department(s)/unit(s)/area(s).Effectively communicates and collaborates both intra- and interdepartmentally with patients, families, physicians, administration and other healthcare team members. Documents accurately and in a timely manner. Adheres to organizational policies and procedures; and regulatory/ accrediting body requirements. Patient Care Under the delegation/direction/supervision of the physician, registered nurse, and/or licensed practical nurse and within the scope of practice, provides/assists with and accurately documents activities of daily living (ADLs) which include but are not limited to: • Bathing • Dressing and undressing • Oral care • Hair Care • Toileting • Personal hygiene • Mobility as activity order allows • Feeding/hydration which includes: o preparing patients for meal times by assisting those that need help in getting positioned properly. o feeding patients requiring help or assisting with tray/food set-u Education and Work Experience • High school diploma or equivalent. • Current STNA (State Tested Nurse Aide) certification preferred. For Emergency Department only – current STNA (State Tested Nurse Aide) or EMT-B (Emergency Medical Technician Basic) certification preferred. • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider CPR (BLS) certification required. • Previous neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and/or geriatric patient care experience preferred.
