Join a supportive Advanced Practice Team in a role supporting the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center. We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Advanced Practice Provider to join our radiation oncology breast team and contribute to this mission. In the Department of Radiation Oncology, the advanced practice provider (APP) can expect to have the unique opportunity to work collaboratively with the radiation oncology physicians, while also practicing independently within the Cancer Center. While the APP can expect a relatively predictable work schedule planned whenever possible, scheduling variations may occur to cover clinical needs as they become apparent to the department/division/clinic. This is a 30-hour position, onsite 3 days (Tues & Thurs required) per week. Requirements and responsibilities for the APP in radiation oncology specific to this role include the following: • Primary role supporting service for breast radiation oncology patients • Assist in navigating patients and their families through the course of radiation therapy from consultation to preparing for treatment and completion of care. • Independently manage the supportive care and urgent patient needs that occur during treatment and in the immediate weeks after treatment and report to the supervising physician. • Review and manage patient communications using EPIC In-Basket • Coordinate new patient education and assist with new patient consults as needed. • Support radiation oncology department via participation in APP coverage model and general clinic support as needed Skills & Experience: • Experience in oncology, preferred Job Summary The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a licensed provider. The NP is responsible for the assessment and management of various populations of patients, medical and/or surgical, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, development of appropriate plans of care and ongoing evaluation. Yes Essential Functions: • Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population in the ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural setting • Performs complete histories and physical examinations • Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests -Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings • Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes and discharge summaries • Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population • Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures Qualifications Education Master's Degree Nursing required Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree?
