Description

Summary

The Material Handler distributes and collects materials throughout the shop to keep production moving efficiently.


Functions

  • Loading and unloading truck in the shipping/receiving department
  • Ensures containers with hazardous contents is securely closed and marked prior to loading or unloading and is present during loading and unloading.
  • Stores hazardous containers in appropriate marked area
  • Transport material to operators as needed
  • Transport finished containers to the shipping/receiving department
  • Organize and rotate inventory stock using the FIFO method
  • Ensure daily the chip dumpsters are not leaking and are properly covered with the tarp provided and recording information in appropriate log
  • Assist in product identification and traceability by confirming labels and/or completed travelers match product in container and always accompany moving stock
  • Keep all aisles and exit doors clear and accessible
  • Works with the shipping/receiving department ensuring dock plates and lights are working and truck drivers are chocking their tires
  • Assists SWPPP by reporting any spills to the EMS Representative or the certified SWPPP operator
  • Performs daily preventive maintenance checks on hi-lo and documents daily log
  • Performs maintenance on hi-lo or contacts maintenance personnel for assistance
  • Understands and follows OSHA requirements including power lock out and SWPPP
  • Ensure that any stock moved to the containment area is marked appropriately with a red tag
  • Report damaged containers to the Logistics Coordinator for disposition and removal
  • Back up for shipping/receiving in operating the scale and producing labels and travelers
  • Helps keep back lot organized
  • Assists in packaging or banding containers for shipping
  • Administers “salt” to dock area and sidewalks and entry ways around the building as needed during the winter months
  • Know the Quality and Environmental policy and their objectives.
  • Follows all safety, environment and quality procedures and instructions.
  • Adheres to all employment rules and regulations.

Requirements
  • High school diploma
  • Experience driving a Hilo
  • Shipping and Receiving experience (1 year minimum)
  • The hours for this job are 11:00 p.m. - 7:30 a.m. (3rd shift)
  • The hours for this job are 3:15 p.m. - 11:45 p.m. (2nd shift)
