No Job Description Summary Performs moderately complex repair or construction of university facilities or property which require specialized training in the HVAC trade. Position performs the installation, maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) and refrigeration components, equipment and systems for a University campus consisting of approximately 200 buildings. Position's primary purpose is ensuring that all HVAC and refrigeration systems and auxiliary equipment are in good working order and that any repairs are completed promptly and properly. Hours for this 4-day, 10-hour position are Sunday through Wednesday, 5:00 am-3:30 pm. Job Description Essential Duties: Reviews job orders and blueprints or drawings; inspects site and consults with client; determines best method to complete project Estimates amount of materials and equipment needed to complete project; arranges for materials to be at job site Performs complex repair or installation on University facilities and property using expertise acquired through specialized training in a skilled trade Assists outside contractors as needed; assists crafts-persons from other trades as needed Maintains and cleans tools and equipment; maintains work area in a clean and orderly manner May prepare some paperwork; may maintain files Minimum Qualifications: Requires nine months training beyond high school in a skilled trade and three years of experience in that trade, or an equivalent combination of education and experience Driver's license required For AQT positions EPA Universal Certification required Preferred Knowledge‚ Skills‚ and Abilities: Knowledge of the procedures and equipment of HVAC systems Knowledge of refrigeration equipment maintenance and repair Additional Position Information (if applicable) Working Conditions: Frequent standing and walking with some climbing and lifting of materials weighing 50 to 75 pounds. Frequent operation of equipment. Somewhat unpleasant working conditions. Some exposure to several unpleasant elements which are particularly disagreeable.
