This is a high-profile project where you’ll play a key role in upgrading core clinical infrastructure, helping to ensure secure, reliable connectivity for frontline healthcare professionals.This contract offers the opportunity to work on a large-scale, complex refresh programme with the backing of an established Microsoft and IT services partner. You will gain valuable NHS project experience while working in a professional and safety-focused environment.Key Responsibilities:Install and replace Layer 2 network switches across designated hospital wards and departments.Label, patch, and test network connections to ensure proper connectivity and performance.Follow configuration templates and deployment plans in collaboration with the Network Engineering team.Document installation activities including port mappings, device locations, and serial numbers.Perform basic troubleshooting and diagnostics to verify switch functionality post-installation.Work in accordance with hospital infection control and safety protocols.Coordinate with clinical and facilities teams to arrange downtime and access.Escalate issues to Level 3 support or Network Engineers where required.QualificationsHands-on Experience: Proven track record installing and configuring Layer 2 switches in enterprise or healthcare environments.Hardware Familiarity: Experience with Cisco, Aruba, or similar network hardware.Technical Knowledge:Understanding of VLANs, trunking, and port security.Ability to read and interpret network diagrams and patch schedules.Soft Skills:Strong documentation and communication abilities.Comfort working in clinical areas with sensitivity to patient privacy and safety.Compliance Awareness: Familiarity with hospital infection control and safety protocols.Additional InformationWorking Conditions:On-site work required across multiple hospital locations.Will involve evening or weekend shifts to minimise impact on clinical services.PPE and training provided for working in sensitive or sterile environments.Must have the right to live and work in the UK.
