Job Details Job Location: FLA-Sarasota Area Command - Sarasota, FL 34236 Position Type: Full Time Regular Education Level: High School Diploma/GED Salary Range: $17.00 Hourly Travel Percentage: None Job Shift: Day Job Category: Food Service This position is responsible for: The lead cook plans, prepares, cooks and serves nutritional meals and snacks in accordance with established guidelines and schedules. Key Responsibilities: Cleans, cooks, and prepares a variety of foods and beverages utilizing kitchen equipment, utensils, and supplies in accordance with acceptable and economical cooking methods. Ensures that enough food is prepared based on the number of people to be served and that food is prepared and served in a timely manner as scheduled. Assigns, instructs, and monitors work of other cooks and food service workers; ensures meals and snacks are prepared as planned. Plans menus and recommends purchase of food and supplies necessary for the preparation and serving of nutritional meals. Maintains a high degree of cleanliness in the kitchen and dining room; ensures that all meals are prepared in a safe manner; ensures all kitchen personnel practice proper personal hygiene; ensures compliance with health regulations. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Work is performed in a normal kitchen environment where there may be limited physical discomforts associated with working around hot stoves/ovens or cold freezers. Duties are usually performed by frequent walking and/or standing, kneeling, or squatting relieved by lesser periods of sitting. Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy (25-50 lbs.) materials, supplies, and equipment frequently. Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent, AND Three years experience cooking food for large groups with some experience coordinating the work of other kitchen staff, OR Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
