Full Time, Permanent Salary: £32,727.34 Location: Newark About the Role We are seeking a Laboratory team member to support factory operations by analysing a wide range of samples, with a focus on boiler and waste waters. This laboratory-based role involves routine and ad hoc testing to support process efficiency and regulatory compliance. You will take a leading role in the lab, providing expertise and support in a dynamic environment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong scientific background who enjoys hands-on lab work and problem-solving in a fast-paced, quality-driven setting. Key Responsibilities Leads key laboratory operations and demonstrates the ability to step in for the Laboratory Manager when required. Collect and prepare wastewater and other process samples in accordance with approved methods and safety procedures. Perform chemical, physical analyses on a range of samples using approved methodologies, using instruments such as spectrophotometers, pH meters, and TOC analysers. Maintain laboratory equipment and follow strict quality control procedures. Take a leading role in Laboratory workplace management maintaining a safe clean and organised environment Maintain stock levels and order consumables Preparation of chemicals Engage and cooperate with other team members to deliver work schedule. Compile and report analytical data for internal review and regulatory submission. Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment Participate in quality assurance and control procedures. Accurate and organised recording of results. Training of temporary analysts Skills, Knowledge and Competencies Degree (or equivalent) in a science based subject. Chemistry at A-Level or equivalent. Strong analytical and data interpretation skills with high attention to detail. Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS). Positive and flexible attitude, taking pride in your work and environment. Commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards. Knowledge of environmental regulations and water quality legislation. Previous work in an ISO 17025-accredited lab.
