The operator is responsible for preparing bulk blends according to blending instructions provided by the Tank Farm Manager, Concentrate Operations. The operator receives concentrate from the evaporators, takes samples and follows direction from the Planning Department and Tank Farm Manager for transfer, blending or other specified handling. The operator blends products as directed by management and the laboratory for customer orders. The operator transfers product as directed, loads, unloads tankers and coordinates concentrate to packaging while focusing on product quality and minimizing product loss. Primary Responsibilities Food Safety is the responsibility of all Ventura Coastal manufacturing employees. All Ventura Coastal manufacturing employees must be aware of CCPs in their area and how to document them appropriately. All staff must report food safety and quality problems to their immediate supervisor in charge during their shift. Must be able to communicate effectively with other operators, relief foremen and supervisors. Mix juice and ingredients according to specifications while following VC standard operating procedures to ensure product quality and to minimize loss. Maintain a sanitary work area. Load and unload tankers per Product Management and Tank Farm Manager instructions. Transfer product to cold wall tanks & J Tanks (Flex). From cold wall tanks, J Tanks transfer products to bulk packaging or load out. Monitor pumps, valves and lines for proper operation to minimize product loss. Be alert to adulteration of product and take all necessary steps to prevent it. Responsible for monitoring and following critical control points. Operate juice processing equipment and CIP systems effectively. Responsible for maintaining sanitary conditions of all juice piping, pumps, valves and tanks. Perform CIP on all equipment to meet all quality standards set by VC. Responsible for accurate and timely reporting of all CCP’s, activity sheets, warehouse transfers and CIP log sheets for the juice room. Follow all safety rules and practices to include the wearing of all essential personal protective equipment. Follow all personal hygiene and food safety practices. Act professionally towards customers, vendors and other visitors to the plant. Perform other duties as required or assigned. Qualifications and Education Requirements Basic computer skills such as the ability to operate a computer touch screen. Must possess or be able to obtain a forklift license. Must be able to make quick, accurate decisions in response to operating conditions. High school graduate or equivalent (GED). Physical Requirements The ability to meet flexible and changing priorities and the ability to work under pressure is a must. 90% standing, climbing ladders, stairs on the plant floor in sometimes wet and slippery conditions. Outside in ambient temperatures while loading orange or lemon concentrate into tanker 10% sitting at a computer terminal or the juice control room. Must be able to lift 50lbs on occasion.
