Job Details Job Location: Tipton Plant - Tipton, CA 93272 Position Type: Union Salary Range: $22.96 - $24.25 Hourly Union: This position falls under a Collective Bargaining Agreement | Chapter 517 Location: 531 West Poplar Avenue| Tipton | CA | 93272 Hourly Rate: $22.96| $24.25 after 90 day probation (Overtime and weekends may be required) Shift: 2nd Shift 2pm - 10:30pm | Shift Differential $0.40 hour Job Summary The juice evaporator operator works under the general direction of the shift supervisor and relief foreman. The juice evaporator operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the plants evaporators to produce safe quality juice. The evaporators remove water from single strength juice to convert the juice to concentrate at the desired brix. Concentrated orange juice is the company’s single largest selling product. The juice evaporator operator is also responsible for monitoring, collecting, and packaging the various essence product streams from the evaporators that have the ability. The operator may work any shift and may cross train with other operators. In the absence of this person, another operator or group lead will perform these duties. Primary Responsibilities Food Safety is the responsibility of all Ventura Coastal manufacturing employees. All Ventura Coastal manufacturing employees must be aware of CCPs in their area and how to document them appropriately. All staff must report food safety and quality problems to their immediate supervisor in charge during their shift. Operate the Thermally Accelerated Evaporators as per instructions from the plant within the parameters controlled by the evaporator automation process – including labeling of product in evaporator feed tanks. Ensures flow of product from extraction area to stage through the evaporator by use of pumps, valves, and swing panels. Maintain each evaporator in operation in maximum capacity producing concentrate within specification avoiding operating conditions that may adversely affect quality. Walks the de-oilers and evaporators to ensure all pumps and motors are running. Retrieve and take samples to the lab for analysis as directed and make changes based on process results. Monitor, collect, and package essence product streams from capable evaporators and the de-oiler. Cleans and sanitizes equipment as necessary with caustic soda solution. Operates both de-oiler units to remove excess oil from juice. Follows all safety rules and practices to include the wearing of all essential personal protective equipment. Properly record information in hourly and daily logs such as the enzyme usage log. Follow all personal hygiene and food safety & quality practices. Act professionally towards customers, vendors and other visitors to the plant. Treat all co-workers with respect and professionalism. Provide documentation of clean and sanitized equipment. Report any equipment problems to leadership immediately upon knowing about them. Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor. Qualifications and Education Requirements High School Diploma or the equivalent (GED). Basic computer skills, i.e., the ability to read and handle a touch screen. Must have a forklift license or the ability to obtain one. Ability to use stairs/ladders on a recurring basis. Physical Requirements The ability to meet flexible and changing priorities and the ability to work under pressure a must 80% on the floor sitting or standing operating an HMI on an uneven floor. 20% of the time will be spent walking, climbing, stairs and ladders in an area immediately outside the physical plant in an open air and often slippery or wet environment. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. on occasion. Qualifications
